Little Island - Dairy Free Ice Cream and Coconut Milk
Our Story
In 2010 two buddies, Tommy and James, set about creating delicious plant based foods to satisfy the most discerning of customers: their children. A roaring success, so began the mission to provide great tasting ethical and organic plant based products for all.
We take pride and care with where and how we source our ingredients. From our single origin chocolate and coffee to our vanilla and banana puree, all of our raw materials are organic, GMO free and traded in line with Fairtrade best practices where possible. This means everybody gets a good deal all the way from the farm to your fridge and freezer.
We pair our organic coconut with fruit, organic fair trade coffee and chocolate, crafting a range of naturally flavoured coconut drinking milks, dairy free ice creams and our legendary original coconut drinking milk perfect for smoothies, cereal and coffee.
After sampling coconut the world over, three places were selected to supply the best coconuts with the best ethics. We have partnered with coconut plantations and processors at source in Sri Lanka, Samoa and Fiji. Sri Lanka’s King Coconuts are sweet and well rounded while the Pacific coconuts are a little more savoury and creamy. The blend of these sources gives the unique flavour that sets Little Island apart from all others.
At the coconut creamery we take great pride in how we run things. With a natural sense of fairness, we commit to paying all our staff an independently audited living wage. In the fields and on the farms we make sure farmers and workers are paid what they’re worth by ensuring we only buy from Fairtrade affiliated suppliers and engage in direct-trade everywhere else. This is a big part of what makes Little Island products more than just how great they taste!
